Kingu (or Qingu)

According to a later Babylonian tradition, Tiamat, the primeval mother goddess, put Kingu  in charge of her army to fight the younger gods after they had done away with her husband, Abzu.  In the Babylonian version of 'Enuma Elish,' the creation epic, Anshar condemned Kingu to death and Marduk was the young god who put him to death.  Then, the first humans were made from clay mixed with Kingu's blood.

There are a number of versions of the 'Enuma Elish' story.  To read the Babylonian version mentioned above, click

Kiririsha was the most important goddess of Elam, ranked second only to the Elamite god, Humban, who was her husband.  Somehow, Kiririsha lured Humban away from Pinikir, his first wife, and married him.  Their son was Hutran.

Kiririsha orginally came from Liyan, an Elamite port on the coast of the Lower Sea (near modern-day Bushire, Iran) where she had a temple.  She was often called, 'The Great Goddess.'  When she moved to Susa, she became 'Mistress of the High Temple' in that city.

Although married to Humban, Kiririsha also seemed to be married to Inshushinak, for she was one of the triad of great gods and earned the title of 'The Great Wife."  This was in keeping with Elamite royal tradition for, in the ruling house of Elam, where two brothers would take their sister to wife, though not at the same time.

Kishar

Kishar was one of the primevial goddesses, a daughter of Lahmu and Lahamu, and granddaughter of Abzu and Tiamat.  She was the wife of Anshar.  Kishar and Anshar were the parents of An (Anu).

Kishar lived in Heaven had no temples, shrines or sanctuaries on the Earth.
